Get Your Garden On!

Want to start a veggie or herb garden, but get stuck in the planning stage? You buy the seeds, the soil, the peat pots, the outdoor (or indoor) containers, the lumber or raised bed kits, the fencing to keep the critters away, the tools, then what?

We know it can be overwhelming- what do I plant? HOW many do I plant?  Say no more.

Growing your own food is one of the most effective ways to promote sustainability and conservation in your very own backyard- or kitchen, front porch, wherever you’ve got some space.

Make this the year you cut your grocery budget down by growing your own vegetables and herbs.

Most crops are multifaceted and versatile, so by purchasing a handful of seed packages now, you can create endless possibilities for meals or sauces & salsa, and even beverages like hot tea, jalapeno-infused water, or a refreshing summer mojito using your own muddled mint.

Below are some of our favorites plans from various gardening resources we like.

Each crop image below in the designs represents one square foot of garden space, and includes the number of plants for each crop.

Stop into the Garden Center today for guidance & all the seeds, peat pots, soil and encouragement you need. A lot of the vegetables and herbs below in the examples can be started inside (some of them it’s even recommended.) That way, you can start slow, and watch your progress, and have more established plants to put in the ground in a few weeks.

We’d be happy to go over your space, growing goals and soil, to get you set up for success this year in your garden.

For some additional reading on how to plant, check out this interesting article we found on companion planting (growing plants closer together which benefit each other, giving some plants which would compete for nutrients a little space.)
