Here are some things to look out for and ways to combat them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bugs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Insects and bugs like certain breeds of ants, beetles, flies, mosquitos, moths, slugs, and worms are harmful to your garden and hurt your chances of growing more. Some options to fight back are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/burgerfarms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/beetle-gfd2c17e23_640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-102620\" width=\"261\" height=\"196\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Japanese Beetle<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Orange or vinegar sprays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sticky traps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recycling tomato leaves, as they have a naturally toxic chemical to bugs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using organic matter for your soil and gardening over plastic or cardboard for six months to heat up the soil and drive bugs out<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Animals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As cute as bunnies, chipmunks, and squirrels are, they\u2019re still animals that come in and eat away at your garden. Consider warding them off with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/burgerfarms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/squirrel-g953baa49b_640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-102621\" width=\"267\" height=\"178\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Squirrel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Repellents like castor oil, mint, scented soaps, and spices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scare tactics like scarecrows, garden gnomes, sensor lights, and wind chimes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fencing and letting your pets out to play<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raised garden beds and wire cloches for particular plants that seem to be a target<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And if you do want to enjoy the animals visiting your yard but want to protect your garden, provide an alternative source of food for them to enjoy elsewhere, like nuts and seeds from a feeder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weeds and Disease<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might not think of them as pests, but weeds and disease are the nastiest things for trying to take our your beautiful garden!
