Mr. Burger says it’s time to get the garden planted with your summer time favorite vegetables. Cole crop plants like Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Collards, Kale, Kohlrabi and Swiss Chard, can be planted in early to middle April; but some crops need warmer air and soil temperatures. Plants like Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Peppers, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Eggplant and Zucchini should be planted from early to late May to achieve the greatest harvest. See “The Old Farmer’s Almanac” website for complete planting, caring, pruning and harvesting recommendations for your favorite vegetables, herbs and berries.
